History

Professor Miguel Álvarez Ochoa decided to manufacture 10 children’s products; a line that no pharmaceutical company handled. At that time, fragments of doses and fractions of pills were prescribed for boys and girls. With the help of doctors Luis Farah Mata, Francisco Ruiz Sánchez, Alfredo Zepeda Camarena, Roberto Ibarra Montoya, Benito Gutiérrez, Alejandro Ramírez, and Professor Luis Medina Gutiérrez, the company began operations with great acceptance of its products.
The first facilities specialized in the production of Pediatric Products are established in Av. España No. 1840, Col. Moderna, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, current headquarters of the PiSA® Group.
PiSA® Farmacéutica is the first company to develop and introduce oral rehydration solutions to the Mexican market.

First pharmaceutical laboratory in Latin-America to install 'BOSCH' technology for aseptic filling in glass ampules.
First company to offer within the Mexican market the most complete line of Parenteral Artificial Nutrition.

PiSA® Farmacéutica starts manufacturing large-volume parenteral solutions in polyethylene FLEXOVAL® packaging. Using the same technology, PiSA® Farmacéutica produces plastic ampoules and is currently the largest manufacturer of these two types of products in the Mexican market.

The first Mexican manufacturer of products for Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis.

Inauguration of the new Cephalosporin Antibiotics and Penicillin Antibiotics Plant in Guadalajara, Jalisco. PiSA® Farmacéutica becomes the first to develop and operate a network of Mixing Centers in Mexico. PiSA® Agropecuaria begins operations.

PiSA® Farmacéutica becomes the first laboratory in the Latin American pharmaceutical industry to adopt a LIMS (a Laboratory Information Management System). PiSA® Farmacéutica Colombia begins operations.

PISA® Farmacéutica is ISO 9001-certified by the French Association for Quality Assurance (AFAQ) for all its sites.


The Oncology Products Plant was inaugurated in Mexico City.

Inauguration of the new PyMPSA® plant, specialized in the manufacturinge of Healing Equipment and Materials. PiSA® Farmacéutica El Salvador and PiSA® Farmacéutica Guatemala begins operations.

PISA® Farmacéutica begins operations in the prescription drug market.
The first company to install the BOSCH Aseptic Glass Ampoule Packaging Line with "Isolator Technology" in Mexico.

Inauguration of the Hormonal Products Plant in Guadalajara to produce tablets, injectable solutions, and injectable suspensions.

Galia Textil obtains ISO 9002 certification from the ABF Quality Evaluation of the United States.

PiSA® Farmacéutica Panama begins operations.

PISA® Farmacéutica obtains the Clean Industry certification for all its production plants.

PISA® Farmacéutica obtains ISO 9001:2000 certification from the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification (AENOR).

SANEFRO® , Integral Nephrology Services, begins operations. PISA® Farmacéutica enters the North American market.

PiSA® Farmacéutica incorporates its new institutional image for prescription products.

PiSA® Farmacéutica innovates, develops, and launches the first electro-medical equipment for Automated Peritoneal Dialysis (APD), PD PACIFICA® , of its manufacture; this is considered by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) as an important innovation in the field of Mexican Nephrology. The LEAN philosophy is incorporated in the PyMPSA® and PiSA® Farmacéutica plants.

A new plant begins operations in Jalisco, with its first stage dedicated to the manufacturing of dialysis solutions.

The use of a new methodology to perform sterility testing of injectable products by rapid method (RMM) and isolator technology begins. With this, Mexico becomes the first country in Latin America to have this state-of-the-art technology of its kind.

The second stage of the Tlajomulco plant begins operations. The production of plastic (polyethylene) ampoules begins in Tlajomulco. Electrolit® is relaunched with a modern and dynamic image. PISA® Farmacéutica is certified as a Socially Responsible Company (ESR) by Cemefi.

The Biotechnological Production Plant -PiSA® BIOTEC starts its operations at the Industrial zone.

The Electrolit® production line starts operations in Tlajomulco. The third production line of Peritoneal Dialysis Bags , two lines of Flexoval® 1000 ml (Blow-Fill-Seal) , a first production line of Solid Forms (uncoated tablets) and a first production line of lyophilized vials (non-oncological, first lyophilizer) begins operations in the Tlajomulco complex.

The In the Tlajomulco complex, the Own Brand Product Packaging Plant begins operations.
The first production line of Polypropylene Ampoules (diluents) begins operations. The second production line for Solid Forms (uncoated tablets) begins operations in Tlajomulco. The pilot plant (development products) begins operations in the Industrial zone of Guadalajara, Jalisco.

PyMPSA® successfully implements the Operational Excellence Culture with the Shingo Silver Award. The first Flexoval® 100ml (Blow-Fill-Seal) production line begins operations in Tlajomulco. The first Electrolit® production line begins operations in Tlajomulcoand. Two Lyophilized Vials production lines (non-oncological, second, and third lyophilizers) begin operations in Tlajomulco.

PiSA® Farmacéutica celebrates its 70th anniversary. The third and fourth production line of Solid Forms (coated tablets and uncoated tablets) begins operations in Tlajomulco. The National Distribution Center (NDC) begins operations in Tlajomulco, and Two Peritoneal Dialysis lines (fourth and third lines) begin operations in Tlajomulco. The first Cephalosporin line begins operations at the plant located in the Jalisco Industrial Area.

PiSA® Farmacéutica celebrates 75 years of history in the Mexican and Latin American markets and reaffirms its commitment to families to continue producing quality, safe, and efficient medicines. The construction of two new Oncology and Immunosuppressant plants with High Containment and Digital Integration with technology: High Containment, Pharma Digital, and Pharma 4.0. Grupo PiSA® currently has 16 production plants throughout Mexico.
